Golden State Warriors Show-Off Latest “Statement Edition” Uniform for 2022-23

August 3, 2022

The Golden State Warriors unveiled their new “Statement Edition” (alternate) uniform for the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season this morning. The announcement came on the 51st anniversary of their team changing their name from San Francisco to Golden State on August 2, 1971.

The new uniform is simple in its overall design — no, not Utah Jazz simple, but still simple. A dark royal blue base with yellow, no white trim anywhere or any other colours. Around the neck and each arm are thick yellow stripes (a thin blue line also borders the neck), “GOLDEN STATE” is arched across the front in yellow, player number below. Simple but nice.

The right side of the jersey has a double yellow stripe (the left has no striping), and the arm striping ceases about halfway down the back of the shoulders. The side striping on the right continues down to the shorts before it parts near the knees forming an arched line, similar visually to the support towers of the Bay Area Bridge. Between this arched yellow line and the end of the shorts are a slightly lighter blue with the stylized stripes of the bridge supports within.

Per NBA rules, “Statement Edition” uniforms must be kept for at least three seasons meaning the Warriors will be wearing this new set until the end of the 2024-25 season and perhaps longer if the team chooses to carry on with them.

The Warriors announced two more new uniforms were on the way for the 2022-23 season, a new Classic Edition uniform to be unveiled next week on August 8, followed by the annual City Edition set much later this year on November 10 (this gives us a good idea as to when to expect the league-wide City Edition launch too).

Both these yet-to-be-released jerseys (as well as the just unveiled Statement uniform) were leaked as part of the league-wide leak back in February. Act surprised.
