Miami Hurricanes’ latest “Miami Nights” alternate uniforms revealed

August 13, 2022

Pulling inspiration from the neon lights on Ocean Drive in South Beach, the Miami football program unveiled a new version of its “Miami Nights” alternate uniform on Friday afternoon.

The all-black uniform includes neon green numbers with a black and neon orange stroke, while the sleeves feature a gray palm tree blowing in what appropriately appears to be the strong winds of a hurricane.

The neon effect can truly be seen on the helmet, though, as the gray stripe down the center and iconic “U” on both sides are outlined in neon orange and neon green. That effect is down the side of the pants, as well.

The uniform is complete with a thin neon orange stripe on both shoulders, a neon green “U” inside a shield on the base of the collar and a script “Miami” on the front helmet bumper, which – like the Miami Heat’s city-edition uniforms – pays homage to a sign on the original Miami Arena.

The Hurricanes did not reveal when the uniforms will be worn, only that associated merchandise will go on sale this Monday.

Miami is 4-3 all-time in all-black uniforms, with wins over Virginia in 2015, Virginia Tech in 2017, North Carolina in 2018 and N.C. State in 2021 and losses to Wisconsin in 2017, Georgia Tech in 2018 and the Tar Heels in 2020.
