The closed smiling face is split in half with gold on its right side and green on its left side. In April 2024, George Mason University introduced a new streamlined logo system to be used by both academics & athletics. The familiar green and gold color palette remains, paying homage to the university`s origins, as voted on by students in the late 1960s. However, bolder shades were adopted to signify its confidence as a rising national leader.
